The Lake Erie Crushers, who are presented by Mercy Health, have hired former Frontier League Champion Manager Dan Rohn as their new Skipper. Rohn will join the club immediately as Director of Baseball Operations and be joined in the dugout by Pitching Coach Greg Cadaret and Hitting Coach Ryan Powell.
“To be able to bring in a guy like Dan Rohn who has won a Frontier League title and has 20-plus years of managerial experience, is a great opportunity for the Crushers”, stated Co-Owner Tom Kramig. “Dan is a great addition to the organization, and we are thrilled to have him on board.”
Rohn managed his hometown Traverse City Beach Bums from 2014 through 2018, winning the Frontier League title in 2015. Prior to Traverse City, Rohn managed in affiliated minor-league baseball for the Seattle Mariners, San Francisco Giants, Minnesota Twins and Toronto Blue Jays. He spent parts of 3 seasons playing Major League Baseball, including a 6-game stint with the Cleveland Indians in 1986.
“I am very excited to be coming back to Cleveland to join the Crushers organization” stated Rohn. “Having been here many times when I was with the Beach Bums, I know Lake Erie has a great fan base and a great organization that should compete for the Frontier League Championship year after year.”
Joining Rohn’s staff will be former big-league Pitcher Greg Cadaret. The lefty reliever played for eight different organizations over 10 seasons and compiled a career record of 38 and 32 with a three-point-nine-nine earned run average. He served as Traverse City’s Pitching Coach for 5 seasons under Rohn.
Also joining the staff will be Hitting Coach Ryan Powell. Powell has spent the past 4 seasons as the Head of Independent Scouting for the Baltimore Orioles organization. Prior to that, he spent 4 seasons as a Catcher in several Independent leagues.
