( July 11, 2022 AVON, Ohio ) Lake Erie Crushers Starting Pitcher Joe Sgambelluri has been named a 2022 Frontier League All-Star by the League’s Coaches, General Managers and Media. Sgambelluri will represent the Western Conference squad at the annual All-Star game, Wednesday July 20th in Washington, Pennsylvania.
The Benbrook, Texas native has started 10 games this season, going 5-and-3 with a two-point-nine-eight earned run average. Sgambelluri has struck out 61 batters in 60 innings while walking only 20. This is his first season in professional baseball, following a college career at Stephen F. Austin University in Texas.
“It’s an honor and a thrill to represent the Crushers at the All-Star game this season”, Sgambelluri stated. “I am looking forward to going up the Eastern Conference’s best hitters next week in Washington.”
