(August 16th, 2021: Avon Ohio) The Lake Erie Crushers, who are presented by Akron Children’s Hospital, announced today that Outfielder Connor Oliver has been named the Frontier League Player of the Week. This award is chosen by Pointstreak, who is the official statistical provider of the Frontier League.
Oliver was among the league’s best this week with eleven hits, including four doubles, a triple, and a home run, and he picked up a league-leading eight RBIs. He hit .500 over six games this week and has now registered a hit in each of his last thirteen games.
The 27-year-old is in his fifth season in the Frontier League, and his third season with the Lake Erie Crushers. He was drafted by the Braves in the 2013 MLB June Amateur Draft and spent three seasons in the organization before briefly playing in the Yankee’s organization, and then joining the Frontier League in 2016. He played for the Crushers in 2016 and 2017 before spending time in Traverse City, River City, and Schaumburg over the following two seasons. He is currently hitting .273 on the season and has registered 60 hits, 33 RBIs, 19 doubles (tied for second in the Frontier League), 5 triples, and 7 home runs so far.
