Greetings Crushers Fans:
First and foremost, we hope this message finds you all healthy and safe at home during this unprecedented global pandemic.
Tonight would have been the Lake Erie Crushers opening night against the Quebec Capitals, one of the new teams joining the Frontier League in 2020. Unfortunately, there is no baseball being played at Crushers Stadium this evening and may not be for some time now. While the Frontier League 2020 season remains suspended, we remain hopeful to resume our season in July and/or August. However, there is a distinct possibility we may not play at all this year.
We have stated from the outset the safety of our Fans, Players and Team Staff is our primary concern, and if the situation does not allow for large crowds to gather at the ballpark, we will not play. We know the disappointment this may represent to our fan base…a summer without Crushers baseball is not a pleasant thought for any of us, but one fan becoming ill as the result of attending one of our games is one too many. We understand that between the pandemic and devastating effects it is having on our economy, folks are looking for diversions from the stress of everyday life. We would like nothing more than to provide that diversion but we won’t jeopardize public health to do so.
The one thing we would like to provide everyone is hope. We will get through this. Life will get back to normal at some point down the road and a night at the ballpark will once again become one of the more pleasant routines we can all look forward to. The Crushers will be back when the time is right, so until then we ask you to follow the recommended social distancing guidelines, take care of yourself, your families, and your neighbors… and be grateful for the good things that are still around us every day.
