Lake Erie’s Emmanuel Marrero Windy City’s Adam Oller Earn Weekly Awards

Lake Erie Crushers’ Shortstop Emmanuel Marrero and Windy City ThunderBolts’ starting pitcher Adam Oller are this week’s Frontier League Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively as chosen by Pointstreak, the official statistical provider of the Frontier League and the Independent Professional Baseball Federation.

Emmanuel Marrero is getting off to a hot start in his first year with the Lake Erie Crushers. He continues to hit at the plate as he added 11 hits, 10 RBIs, 2 home runs, and 3 stolen bases last week. Emmanuel’s .405 batting average and 10 RBI rank him 2nd in the league for both categories. Marrero helped the Crushers to a 5-1 record for the week, and a 7-2 record overall, which is tops in the league.

Emmanuel Marrero was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 7th round of the 2014 amateur draft out of Alabama State University. Marrero played 4 years within the Phillies organization, reaching as high as AA. Marrero racked up 12 home runs, 95 RBI and 302 hits while within the Phillies organization.

Also a newcomer, Adam Oller is looking impressive in his first year in the Frontier League. Oller finished the week with starting 2 games going 1-0, pitching 13 innings, striking out 23 batters, and allowing a run. Oller has now notched 30 strikeouts in 19 innings this year, which leads the league. Adam has only given up one run in 19 innings this year to kick off 2019 strong.

Adam Oller spent 3 years in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization after they drafted him out of Northwestern State in Louisiana in the 20th round of the 2016 amateur draft. Oller pitched in 59 games total for the Pirates affiliates, starting 16. Oller went 10-10 with a 4.47 ERA and 164 strikeouts while he was with the Pirates.
