Frontier League All-Time Hits Leader Rounds Out Crushers Coaching Staff

The Lake Erie Crushers have acquired all-time Frontier League hits Leader Santiago Chirino to serve as a Player-Coach for the 2023 season. Chirino was acquired from the New Jersey Jackals and will play infield while serving as the team’s hitting coach next season.

“Adding Santiago Chirino to the roster and coaching staff will be a great benefit for the Crushers in 2023” stated new Crushers Manager Jared Lemieux.

“Santiago can-not only still be a great Player in this League, but his experience and knowledge will undoubtedly benefit the entire organization as we work towards a Frontier League Championship.”

Chirino finished the 2022 season with 907 hits in his Frontier League career, more than any other player. He has played for the Normal Cornbelters and Jackals during his 8-year Frontier League career after spending 4 seasons in the Texas Rangers organization. He also holds Frontier League records for most At-Bats, games played and runs scored.

“I am thrilled to join Jared Lemieux for the 2023 season and look forward to working with the Crushers to help the entire organization capture a Frontier League title”, stated Chirino.

The Crushers will kick off their 2023 campaign on Friday May 12th at home against the defending Frontier League champions, the Quebec Capitales.
