Eisenbarger Tosses Six Scoreless As Crushers Shutout Y’alls

Avon, Ohio – The Lake Erie Crushers (10-6) return to the win column with their third shutout of the season, this time the victim being the Florence Y’alls (5-9). The win gets them to double digit wins on the year and keeps them within 1.5 games of Schaumburg in the Frontier League West standings.

Crushers starter, LHP Jack Eisenbarger, was flawless, facing the minimum through four innings of work, striking out seven Y’alls in the process. In a postgame interview, Eisenbarger said his fastball/changeup combo felt great.

RF Jack Harris stepped up to the plate with just one out in the 3rd, lacing a shot up the middle to bring LF Burle Dixon home to put the first run on the board. The Crushers took their 1-0 lead and would not let it go.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Crushers found two runs to give them a 3-0 edge. Jack Harris again drove in Burle Dixon, this time with an RBI double. C Alfredo Gonzalez would cash in on the next pitch for an RBI single to score Harris.

Eisenbarger would check out of the game after the sixth inning, completing his time on the mound giving up just three hits and two walks, striking out a season high nine (9) batters, putting him in the sole lead for strikeouts on the season in the Frontier League (29).

In the later innings, DH Walner Espinal logged himself two RBI, one with a fielders choice in the 6th and another with a bloop single in the 8th. Espinal’s RBI would give the Crushers a 5-0 lead heading into the 9th.

In the top of the ninth, reliever RHP Enrique Ozoa shut the door on the Y’alls, completing the shutout, giving the Crushers a victory at home.

The win was awarded to Crushers starter Jack Eisenbarger, with the loss given to Y’alls starter Jonaiker Villalobos, who allowed eight hits and two earned runs.

The Crushers and Y’alls are set to square off again Wednesday, May 29th at 1:05pm EST at Crushers Stadium. It’s Senior Sluggers Day, so Crushers fans 65 and older can enjoy a relaxing day at the ballpark with some discounted tickets!

The Crushers are penned to start LHP Darrien Ragins, who made his first start of the 2024 season in Windy City last week after returning from the IL.
