Lake Erie Crushers Starting Shortstop Jarrod Watkins has been named a 2023 Frontier League All-Star by the League’s Coaches, General Managers and Media.
Watkins will represent the Western Conference squad at the annual All-Star game, Wednesday July 12th in Crestwood, Illinois home of the Windy City Thunderbolts.
The Washington, Illinois native has played in 29 of the Crushers 45 games this season, hitting .274 with a .345 on base percentage. Watkins also played with the Crushers during the 2022 season hitting .340 in 13 games before signing with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
“I am incredibly honored to represent the Lake Erie Crushers at the 2023 All-Star game this season”, Watkins stated. “It’s especially exciting to be able to play in my home state against the best the Frontier League has to offer.”
The Crushers continue their big July 4th homestand this week at Mercy Health Stadium against the Evansville Otters. Game times are 7:05 Monday, 2:05 Tuesday July 4th and 7:05 Thursday the 6th .
