Crushers Announce Myriad of Moves Ahead of Wild Things Series

Avon, OH – Lake Erie has processed several transactions ahead of their weekend series against the Washington Wild Things.

Within the roster, skipper Jared Lemieux announced LHP Matt Valin was transferred to the 7-day IL, meaning his scheduled start on Sunday against the Wild Things will be skipped over.

UTIL Jose Torrealba was also transferred to the 14-day IL after being removed from Tuesday’s game in Windy City.

1B Scout Knotts will remain on the 7-day IL at least through the Wild Things series.

On Friday morning, the team also announced two new player signings: UTIL Michel Triana and LHP Garrett Coe.

Michel Triana was signed as a minor league free agent by the Cincinnati Reds in 2019. He played from 2021-2023 with the Daytona Tortugas (Class A) while appearing in a brief stint with the Dayton Dragons (High-A) in 2022.

Triana sports a career minor league slash line of .198/.280/.339 with 17 home runs in 203 games. The 6’4″ 235lb utility man from Cifuentes, Cuba adds another left handed bat to the Crushers’ lineup. He will wear #6.

Garrett Coe is a 6’6″ 258lb left handed pitcher out of the University of Connecticut. Over his four seasons at UCONN, Coe was used primarily as a reliever, pitching to a 4.51 ERA in 207.1 IP from 2021-2024.

Coe amassed an 8-5 record for UCONN in their Super Regional appearance season in 2024 before running into the Florida State offensive juggernaut that made it all the way to the College World Series. The 24-year old was a part of UCONN’s four CWS tournament appearances from 2021-2024. Coe will sport #33 for the Crushers.

The Crushers enter the weekend of June 28 just 1.5 games behind the Washington Wild Things. The Wild Things will come into Avon for a huge three-game series on Friday. It’s Military Appreciation Night with postgame fireworks and a custom jersey auction that’s happening now!
