Spring 2022 Internships

General Intern 

The Lake Erie Crushers, located in Avon, OH, are looking for interns during the spring semester, January to May 2022. As a Lake Erie Crushers intern, you will have the opportunity to experience and partake in all aspects of how a professional baseball team operates. Interns can gather practical work experience in all aspects of professional sports including, but not limited to:

  • Marketing / Promotions
  • Stadium Operations
  • Ticketing
  • Corporate Client Management
  • Financial Management
  • Special Projects

Responsibilities:

  •  Work with Front Office staff to plan and prepare for the 2022 Frontier League season and other stadium events.
  • Help plan and promote promotional / theme nights for the 2022 season
  • Work community & mascot appearances with marketing staff
  • Assist with: Public Relations, Community Development, Media Relations, and various other office needs
  • Work all aspects of the ticketing process from sales support to box office operations
  • Work with Stadium Operations staff to prepare ballpark for 2022 season and other in-stadium events
  • Work with the corporate client development program

Qualifications:

  • Currently attending, an accredited university. (All majors welcomed)
  • Passion to work in the sports industry
  • Ability to think outside the box, and bring new ideas to the table
  • Maintain a professional demeanor during high-pressure situations
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Enjoy working as part of a team

This is an unpaid internship, and no housing is provided. College credit MUST Be Awarded for completion of this internship.

Graphic Design & Social Media Internship 

The Lake Erie Crushers are accepting applications for a Graphic Design / Social Media Intern for the 2022 Spring Semester.  As an integral part of the overall success of the marketing department, this position is responsible for carrying out the creative efforts of the Lake Erie Crushers in the ballpark and the marketplace. 

This position is an UNPAID Internship and you MUST receive school credit. 

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Digital Content Manager to enhance the overall vision and execution of the public and marketplace image of the Lake Erie Crushers
  • Design graphic projects for trade advertisements, posters, flyers, in-stadium signage, sales projects, sponsor mock-ups, website, social media, among other projects 
  • Assist in planning and executing all marketing and promotional events and strategies
  • Represent the organization with the utmost professionalism in the community
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all things Crushers (tickets, promos, events, history, etc.)
  • Dress as Stomper and/or other mascot when needed for games and outside appearances
  • Support the creation and development of in-game elements including on-field promotions, fan interactive elements, mascot skits, music, etc. 
  • Assist in any other duties put forth by Crushers full-time staff

Qualifications:

  • Must have superior interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong graphic design and/or social media skills
  • Responsive to feedback and open to communication and critique 
  • Strong organization and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and meet strict deadlines

Job Requirements:

  • Strong working knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, & Canva
  • Demonstrated experience with print production, web graphics (video editing a plus)
  • Exceptional eye for quality and detail
  • Photography experience a plus
  • HTML and web design experience a plus
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends
  • Submissions without work examples will not be considered.
  • Must be able to commute to the office

Summer 2022 Internships

Stadium Operations Intern

The Lake Erie Crushers are now accepting applications for Stadium Operations Interns for the Summer of 2022 season.  This is an unpaid Internship and all applicants will be required to receive college credit for this opportunity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside, and assist and report to, the Director of Stadium Operations with daily operations duties 
  • Stadium maintenance, cleaning, and upkeep, working with sub-contractors, the City of Avon, and  various vendors 
  • Planning, set-up, and breakdown of all stadium events throughout the season 
  • Daily management and scheduling of game day staff members (Ticket Takers, Ushers, Kids Zone, Cleaning Crew, Security Staff, Parking, and emergency service vendors)
  • Assist other departments with various tasks, when necessary and appropriate
  • Manage and cultivate vendor relationships for ballpark improvement projects and day-to-day affairs
  • Assist in departmental problem solving, project planning, and the development and execution of departmental goals and objectives
  • Perform daily walkthroughs of the facility to ensure a proper set-up is complete for each event
  • Other duties as assigned

Expectations/Qualifications:

  • Active interest in working in professional sports 
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Minimum of one year of working in sports preferred, but not required
  • Knowledge of how to operate basic hand tools and heavy machinery is preferred, but not required
  • Proactive, energetic, self-starter
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs
  • Ability to spend most of the shift outside and on your feet in extreme weather conditions
  • Spend long hours, days/nights/overnights, weekends, and holidays at Mercy Health Stadium
  • Work well with others and independently
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to balance many projects at once
  • Be a leader in customer service
  • Conduct self in a professional manner both in personal appearance and attitude
  • Represent the Lake Erie Crushers at business and community functions in a professional manner

  • Work with Stadium Operations staff to execute baseball games and other stadium events
  • Work all aspects of the ticketing process from sales support to box office operations and game day ticketing tasks
  • Work with the corporate client development program
  • Learn all aspects of concession operations
  • Work all Crushers’ home games and events

Qualifications:

Promotions Dept. Intern 

The Lake Erie Crushers are now accepting application for Promotions Interns for the Summer of 2022 season.  This is an unpaid Internship and all applicants will be required to receive college credit for this opportunity.

 General Responsibilities

  • Have fun! Enjoy what you do and make the team members around you better.
  • Assist in any/all promotional activities related to home games.
  • Assisting in the distribution of promotional items on game-days.
  • Must be comfortable in front of large crowds and personable. 
  • Assisting in preparing the ballpark for all Crushers home games.
  • May be required to attend player/mascot/organization appearances in the community.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ensuring an exceptional fan experience through great customer service.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to work nights and weekends during the season.

This position will include working with our Digital Content Manager on carrying out the creative efforts of the Lake Erie Crushers in the ballpark and the marketplace.

  • Work with our Digital Content Manager to enhance the overall vision and execution of the public and marketplace image of the Crushers
  • Design graphic projects for trade advertisements, posters, flyers, in-stadium signage, sales projects, sponsor mock-ups, website, social media, and more
  • Assist in planning and executing all marketing & promotional events, and strategies.
  • Assist with drafting content and analytics for the Crushers’ social media networks.
  • Capture proof of performance materials for end-of-season reviews
  • Assist with management and maintenance on LakeErieCrushers.com
  • Support the creation and development of in-game elements including on-field promotions, fan interactive elements, mascot skits, music, etc.
  • Develop, prepare for and participate in various theme nights
  • Decorate the stadium and prepare for the various theme nights throughout the season
  • Assist in any other duties put forth by Crushers full-time staff

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a degree in digital media, sports management, graphic design, marketing, communications, multi-media journalism or related field
  • Skills: Familiarity with WordPress, Hootsuite, Canva, Creative Cloud (or similar social content management tools)
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Must be available for a majority of the games.
  • Ability to multitask and complete tasks within deadlines.
  • Ability and desire to embrace creativity and spontaneity and to think “outside the box”

Content Creator Internship 

The Lake Erie crushers are looking for multiple interns interested in videography, video editing, live broadcast production, and photography for the 2022 season. These positions are UNPAID, and academic credit is REQUIRED to participate in this program.

Opportunities:

  • Shoot and edit news-and entertainment-style video packages of player interviews, community relations events and appearances, and other team-related events.
  • Compile and edit the footage into video highlight segments.
  • Shoot game footage during live games and promotional events during stoppages.
  • Archive, log and maintain game footage and photos for future use.
  • Participate in live broadcast production crew for Lake Erie Crushers home games. Duties would include Broadcast Directing, Remote camera control and live graphic production
  • Capture Proof of Performance materials (photo & video) for end-of-season reviews by Corporate clients
  • Acquire hands-on experience with Marketing & Promotions department to provide quality marketing materials
  • Learn how to organize all game day photos following each game in an organized manner.

Qualifications:

  • General knowledge of photography equipment including editing software such as Adobe Creative Cloud, etc.
  • General knowledge of video production equipment including camera, digital recording media, switcher, graphic and editing systems, etc.
  • Experience working in a live production environment a definite pus
  • Knowledge of streaming services and how to run the software
  • Expectation to attend a majority of the Crushers’ home games
  • May be asked to provide own camera equipment. Editing software is Adobe Creative Cloud and is available for use
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and complete tasks within deadlines.
