Avon, OH --  The Lake Erie Crushers, presented by Mercy, drop the final game of the series to the Traverse City Beach Bums, 4-0, on Sunday afternoon, as the Crushers struggled to capitalize on a few opportunities late in the game.

With the loss, the Crushers (16-15) drop to 7-10 in the month of June. The Beach Bums (10-22) snapped a six game losing streak and win their fourth game against the Crushers this season.

For the second day in a row, the Beach Bums put the first run on the board. In the fifth inning, Steven Patterson hit a solo home run that sailed over the right field fence, his fourth homer of the season.

Traverse City would add a run in the seventh inning, via a groundout. Brandon Thomasson doubled to deep center field to start the inning. He would move to second as his teammate, Patterson, grounded out to second. Thomasson would sneak home on a groundball in the middle of the infield that Crushers' second baseman, Brendan Costantino picked up and threw to first, getting the second out of the inning. The Beach Bums led, 2-0 after seven innings.

In the top of the ninth inning, the Beach Bums would increase their lead. Jose Vargas walked and moved to second on a groundout to third by Thomasson. With two outs, Patterson doubled to left field, scoring Vargas. Brian Portelli then singled into left field to score Patterson and put Traverse City up, 4-0.

The Crushers had chances to score throughout the game but could not get a big hit. The most notable opportunity came in the seventh inning, when the Crushers had bases loaded and nobody out. Eric Grabe and Scott Carcaise singled to start the inning. Beach Bums' pitcher, Joeanthony Rivera, then walked Parker Norris to load the bases. Brady North, Parks Jordan and Max Casper would all strike out to end the inning. The Crushers left eight runners on base after the fourth inning.

Todd Kibby (2-3) is given the loss even though he went six, strong innings, allowing a run on three hits. Kibby also struck out eight Beach Bums. Four relievers were used, including Keegan Ghidotti, who allowed one run in the seventh inning and Ryan Richardson, who allowed two runs in the ninth inning.

Dylan Stoops (3-1) picked up the win for Traverse City as he went 5.1 innings, striking out six and allowing one hit. Rivera, Luke Barker and Andrew Brockett all came out of the bullpen and did not allow a run.

The Crushers will have Monday off and then will go to Schaumburg, Illinois to play the Boomers, beginning on Tuesday. The Crushers will start right hander Steve Hagen (2-1, 1.33). The pitcher for the Boomers will be announced later. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
